Today is likely to be a day of much commentary and expression of views. For that reason, I will stay out of the fray and leave the chatter to everyone else. No tune today, come back again tomorrow.
If you would like to share your own recollections of that day, please leave a comment. Where were you? How did you hear the news? How did things look different in your town afterwards?

9/11/01 - at about 8:55 am, I was just getting into my car to head to Supercuts for a quick haircut. I heard on teh radio as I was in my driveway, that a plane hit the WTC. I ran in and asked my hubs to turn on teh TV. He did..and we watched the Today show, thinking it was some kind of accident...at 9:03 we watch in horror the second plane slam into teh south tower..we could not believe what we had witnessed. I don't think I even cried..I was in shock...we watch in silent horrow for 30 minutes or so and then I left to go pick up my daughter at school as at that point we were sure we were under attack. When Iarrived at her small private school, I went into a large room where the Middle school aged kids were gathered, there were about 70 kids in there watching the tv coverage. Not many parents had shown up and the kids were asking alot of questions so I decided to stay a while there until more parents came. There were only 3 teachers and me (very small private school)I guess I stayed about an hour and watched and comforted the children..until the second tower collapsed...I couldn't be there one more moment and I left to go home with my daughter and be with my husband. We just didn't know what was going to happen next.
Later that day, husband and I went to the mall to donate blood..we had no idea there was no need...
awful awful day...I am still traumatized by it.
for some strange reason I cannot type the word THE correctly. Please excuse my repeated typos..
typo's are OK.
for my part, I had a meeting scheduled at the office of one of my companies larger customers, to arrange the installation of new equipment at the site. I slept late, watched no TV, and listened to CD's enroute to the premise.
When I arrived, I saw two of my compatriots in the parking lot, looking at the sky and it was then that I noticed three large airplanes circling way overhead. When I caught up with the others, the first thing that I heard was "who are we at war with?". The conversation then moved across what had transpired. I confess that I was numb to it, aware, but numbed. We went ahead with our meeting, and then I drove across town to my office, where the TV was tuned in to a local network affiliate. I saw both towers come down, and that is when it hit me. It is not yet completely gone, and may never be, for any of us. I do not believe that we have had the national catharsis in terms of mind set that will be required to bring these chapters to an end. Maybe we are in that process now--I am sure that we are not yet finished with it.
