what can you say to the younger generation?

We can thank them for the 50% of their life's work yet to happen.. since we've already spent it.. and a goodly bit more..

Then we can apologize for making it so that they'll never get any type of reasonable return on deposit accounts; as any increases in interest they'd realize, will be more than offset by their share of government debt service..

As for getting stoned and having sex ? Contraceptives and medicinal pot will be covered by Obamacare.. if that's what it takes to keep the vote-ranchers in power..

You might be right, but if so, that will be the case no matter who gets elected. The issues that you cite won't simply disappear if Romney, Gingrich, Santorum or Ron Paul get the big seat.

The big difference, as many people see it, is who will be thrown under the bus, or, how will the pain of going forward, (or sliding backward, as some choose to see it), be spread around.

Or will there be something else? Obama rides the issue of something else. It may be a load of crap, but it is good crap, and it beats, (so far), what the other team is peddling.

There is no; something, else, or something else. Doesn't matter whose "load of crap" you buy into.

We're past the point where reasonable mitigation is possible.

Now it's just a matter of choosing the type of "rock-bottom" we will hit.. and whether it will be sooner (less painful), or later (more painful).

But heck.. even a super-committee couldn't pretend to try to cut from the ENTIRE federal budget, an amount that just ONE aspect, of JUST Obamacare, will run, "over budget"..

If we cannot even slightly reduce spending (1/2 of it borrowed), by a ridiculously meaningless amount .. well .. it's already over..
