For a Fine Man

Abstraction is a powerful thing.    You really can't appreciate the term or even experience it until it stops.     That is the point when ideas, notions, concepts, understandings, perceiptions and yes, even prejudice's become real.    On one hand, you find out how right or wrong you are/were.

On the other hand, you find out how right or wrong you are/were.

This past month, a man that I have known for a quarter century or so passed away.    With the caveat that he was of exceptional character and principal, he was little different from most of us, a working guy with a family, grandkids looking forward, talking himself into making that uncertain jump into the economic state known as "retirement".

Then in the blink of an eye, he was gone.

He was at work, (night shift), and was jumped from behind, for reasons yet to be determined.   He managed to get away from the scene of the attack, and tried to summon help, but it arrived too late.

I like to think of myself as rational and level headed, but if the guilty party or parties is found, I hope that they resist arrest, enthusiastically.

So long Kevin, our lives will be a lot less rich without you.
