Why I hate the Internet, part 1

I got this in an email this weekend, and it was not in one of the many joke emails I receive from friends and relatives. The sender was unknown to me, (one of the reasons I use BCC), and it was a part of a general rant about everything wrong with the world, which, as it conveniently turns out, is everything.

If anybody can come up with a solution that will not knock down the house of cards that we all live in or take away my meager living, please post it, then run for something.

My brother is a thoroughly conditioned liberal.. Mostly in a good kinda way ala, if we were all conservative, we wouldn't know it, and what would be the point ? He's not quite as caustic a liberal, as I am a conservative, but he is as ideoligically (to the point of illogic) bound as am I. Much like our fearless leader, my brother suffers from real-world naivete' .... he went from professional student; straight into government work... never ran anything, managed anything, dealt with competition.. had do-or-die deadlines.

That aside... 8 years of college in a mostly scientific discipline didn't go completley to waste.. he may not be very pragmatic, but he's no dummy... and his critical-thinking skills are starting to overpower his ideology.

Back in mid-2007; when anyone paying attention could see trouble on the banking horizon; we talked, and lamented about how this could end up costing us hundreds of billions of dollars (maybe even a trillion before the dust settled).. and how that just might push us over the financial cliff.

Wellllll.. three years later we're SEVERAL trillion dollars into balouts/stimuli.. no better off (worse, actually), have a new entitlement that will dwarf all others combined, looming... conflicts of epic (WWIII-esque)proportion brewing in foreign lands, and our southern border has been de-facto pushed north by violent invasion(border patrol is retreating)... we're on the verge of civil war (civil unrest at best)... all civil-service/union pensions are broke (including my bro's).. and our pathetic ruling class are about to enter into a heated debate about privatizing Social Security. ??!! (as if it matters)..

Where was I ? Oh yeah.. Bad, bi-partisan news from reasonably bright brothers. We have no solution, won't be running for anything, and agree that this mess now has enough multi-faceted momentum that all we can do is watch and wait.

We've been completely Cloward-Piven-ed...
