Enough Already!

Everybody's talking, (many are screaming or shrieking, but I am rounding off here), but not too many have much to say. (You might think that includes me, if so, then so be it).
There is a lot of data out there, (I won't call if news or information), regarding a phenomena known as Tea Parties. Seems to be the next big thing, at least this election cycle.

BFD.

I have a lot of respect for the parties, (scratch that, for the idea of the parties), and for those persons that I assume comprise them, concerned voters.

But right now, they are going nowhere, and not very fast at that.

The Tea Parties are, for the most part, being used by agencies adept at drawing attention to things that serve little useful purpose, many times, (but not always), for the purpose of creating a diversion, other times simply to draw attention, and revenue, towards themselves. Some of these groups seem to take themselves, and their role, altogether too seriously.

As an example, I cite a group in Oklahoma, (again, with the utmost respect), that has petitioned certain members of the state legislature for recognition and authority in some, as yet indeterminate areas. The stated purpose of the militia would be to hold check on the encroaching power of the federal government over the sovereignty of the states.
Huh?

Let me make that a bit clearer. HUH?

This may not be the equivalent of the "shot heard 'round the world", or the first salvo at Fort Sumter, but it is something. If it comes to anything besides ridicule, it will be remembered as the next step beyond that taken by Tim McVeigh.

My point here, without being too long winded about it, is that the various groups calling themselves Tea Parties need to stand for something besides simply being mad, and focus on an issue, however small it seems. (By this I mean the individual groups need to select an issue, not the entire monolithic "we are here and mad movement"). Sounds naive I know, and possibly picayune, but the situation that we are dealing with is a pile of small things, (granted, some not as small as others), that need to be disassembled a piece at a time, the same way that the pile was created. The measure of our culture will not be that we did create it, but how we deal with it.

Now let me get back to those voices who seem to be popular with the aforementioned Tea Parties.

Let em go.

They truly are insignificant, and counterproductive to boot. They are there to make money and garner influence for themselves. In short, they are a little bit machiavellian and a lot whores. They come in many stripes, from all sides of the political spectrum, but they are the same beast.

They profit from rabble-rousing, and, I am certain, would be willing to lead whatever charge seems to be the most profitable at the moment. When these people fade from the political scene, look for them on the family values pulpit, where memories are long and the plates get passed daily.

We are talking about a profession, not always an honorable one. Be suspicious of them, just because they strike a chord does not make them logical or right. Being mad and indignant is not necessarily a good thing either.
Being really pissed off at the last administration, (who were gonna get the boot, no matter what), was what brought the present administration in, not hope, not faith in America, not time for a black man to be President or any other brand of sunshine up your ass.

A lot of people made noise and called attention to themselves and made THAT the issue, and, here we are. What else was the last national election about?

Have a nice day and think about the families in Oklahoma City who have a different memory.

As I started reading this post.. I was already gearing up for good-natured, good-spirited counter-point (too many hyphens ?)... but there is none. Not because I agree with you, but because there's nothing to agree, or disagree with... and you qualified as such.

As for the Tea Party.. Though I am a member in spirit, I've yet to attend a "function".. and I must confess that early on, I fell into the politically-correct position of seeing where they come from, but not daring to grant them any credibility (selfish and cowardly on my part).

Here's the problem they face: The not-so-covertly organized, multi-front, relentless attack on them, gave them a stature well beyond what their relative youth merited. I mean.. even NOW they're barely a year old. With little more than tacit endorsement by conservative media moguls for most of the last year(they seemed as reluctant as myself to just jump on board), they've fended off the triple-headed, liberal monster (current regime; media mainstays; Soros-surrogate attack networks), quite well, for such a fledgling entity. Heck, they've beaten them back soundly, without even trying.

I'd be asking.. "Why is that ?"

Mean time... they're the force-de-jour.. and only getting stronger.

Time will tell, if that's a good thing. I'll say with no sarcasm whatsoever.. that this blog will be a honest, if not relevant, indicator.

Not cowardly to withhold approval of a group that seems so unreasonable and rabid. It's the instinct we all have. You will wait, (or have waited) until a sufficient number of people, a "tipping point" is achieved and you will jump on board. It is then that you will demonstrate your cowardice.

"Triple-headed liberal monster?" I love that.

Geez.. As far as motivated, political movements go.. the Tea Party is probably the LEAST "unreasonable and rabid". And have remained quite reasonable and UNrabid; in spite of efforts to label them as such, and efforts to PUSH their buttons.

Can you imagine the scene, if Republican congressional leader paraded right through Iraq war protesters, ceremonial gavel in hand, to sign surge-funding legislation ?? And groups like MoveON and CodePink were never assailed, by name (vulgar, sexual, refernce name), repeatedly, right out of the halls of congress AND the Whitehouse. It's pretty amazing stuff we're seeing now.

ANYway.. I am going to become an active Tea Party member/supporter. In a world where the political class is growing itself expotentially.. regulations flying off of Czar printers.. more government employees than people who make stuff (BLS refernce to the number of government employess now outnumbering manufacturing and construcion employees).. major legislation getting not only rammed down a polulation's throat, but in ways that mock constitutionalty.. a federal budget that translates into $38,000 per household.. a federal debt that equates to $150,000 per household.. and no sign of anything but MORE federal government growth.. it's time for me to mobilize.. possibly take part in making the movement more organized, refined, and effective...

A good discussion may be starting here. No disrespect, but I hope that there are more than one anonymous commenters here.

It is completely up to you, but it takes only about 3 minutes to make up a handle, (if you recall the term from the CB days of yore), create a gmail account, (that is the same system that hosts blogspot), and then you can debate without creating confusion amongst oldtimers, like me.

So, continue....

Naw.. just one (me) no disrespect taken : )

I think I can "handle" myself without a Gmail account. Seems to be working in preview.

ANYway.. just now digesting the ramp-up on tagging the Tea Party as Nazis. UNbelievable.

We've got a "traditional" media that will not shed an unflattering light on this regime.. it's kinda spooky that they're either completely on board with this progressive revolution, or afraid to piss it off. Wonder if the $4,000,000/year "journalists" think that they'll be immune to the regulatory (thuggish) arm of what the Democrat party has become.

There is more "Woodward & Bertstein" fodder here than in the previous 50 years combined... and nobody (short of FNC/TalkRadio) will even touch it.

I'm honestly frightened.. and SO glad I have no children who'll have to live in some French/Venzuela hybrid country; where more people work for the government, than the private-sector.
.. and every major industry is defacto government run.

If this party hold power past the 2010 elections.. they'll get even bolder and braver.. they sense that they're within sniffing distance of locking this socialism in for the next century.. and don't care (likely want) that the U.S. economy is so under water that it will crash right into the progressive funnel.
